You have reached the official site of the Automotive Multimedia Interface Collaboration (AMI-C).
In 2003, AMI-C released a complete series of technical specifications to promote the standardization of common automotive information and entertainment system interfaces for motor vehicle communication networks.
These specifications were developed through one of the largest collaborative efforts in the history of the automotive industry, involving automotive OEMs and suppliers; telematics experts; computer, software and network developers; and, standards development organizations from around the world.
Collectively, all AMI-C Members consensed upon 19
specifications that provide the architecture and technical requirements for
implementing a vehicle communications network that is open and can support
interoperable system components. The
AMI-C architectural framework enables electronic
devices (e.g., mobile phones, PDAs, compact disc changers, etc.) and services
(e.g., navigation) to automatically configure and communicate with each other
across different vehicle platforms.
With the publication of these specifications, the Board Members of AMI-C proudly declared its mission met and the non-profit corporation has since been dissolved.
All AMI-C technical specifications have been transferred to the following standards organizations as shown below, and can be accessed from these new document owners:
